Dr. Wade and the Children's Dental Center named Parents
Pick by Nickelodeon's ParentsConnect magazine and website! Please go to
Parent's Connect
and look under Parents Picks, then Des Moines then Dentist. We are very
proud of this award as it was given to us by the families that know us best,
our patients!

Dr. Wade is proud to have been named in the top five
children's dentists in Des Moines by the Des Moines Dental Society
doctors; the dentists that work with him daily. This honor appeared in the
first 2010 edition of DSM Magazine. Congratulations Dr.
Wade!
Dr. Dave Blaha who came to work part time with Dr. Wade
five years ago after having retired has decided that he wants more time with
his family and has decided to retire again!
Good luck and happy retirement Dr. Blaha!
I thank all of you for that growth as your refer your
friends, family and coworkers for care with us.
We always endeavor to make you a hero to those you refer!
We continue to stay on the cutting edge of comfortable
and safe dental care. We
continue to use the Erbium: YAG
hard tissue laser for cavities.
It puts the tooth to sleep without a “shot” or the numbness that follows.
Our Diode Lasers are use to remove soft tissue growths of the mouth
and to perform the most successful treatment to pulp tissue in infected
teeth. Remember that our
practice is one of only a handful in the Midwest
to use these painless lasers that are kind to tooth structure and allow me
to more precisely remove decay and take away less tooth structure.
We are adding the latest in sterilization equipment.
It does exactly what our current state of the art machines do, but
does it faster. Did you know
that we send in tests to an independent lab on each sterilization device we
use EACH WEEK to assure the
sterilization of instruments used with our patients.
That way you can be assured that when we open a package of sterilized
instruments, they are indeed sterile and contain no germs!
This year will see even greater improvements in our
care for your child with advancements in equipment and continued training
for our staff. Thank you again
for making our year fun and rewarding by sharing your children with us!

I continue to play the violin and saxophone for fun and
with my family. My daughter will
be playing with her high school orchestra in
Paris
this Spring and the rest of my family will go along (my wife and I to
chaperone). This years Christmas
concert for our extended family may just include a saxophone solo of some
carols as I have improved from last year!

Congratulations are in order for some of our staff with
upcoming wedding plans. Laura
and Megan T. will be getting married within the next year or so.
Congratulations to these
fine young women!
NEW GAME FOR RECEPTION AREA
Our reception area gained a fantastic new addition this fall. We have
placed a new touch screen game system among our wall mounted systems. This
is the top of the line! It has over 100 games from virtual fingerpainting
for very young patients to Sudoku for older patients or parents. Recently a
mother and grandmother who’s child was having her teeth cleaned had a chance
to play and were disappointed that they had to stop when their child was
done! It has games for kids down to age two; below if a parent is helping.
I’m excited for you to see and experience this new way to relax with us.
PRIZES NOW MORE FUN!!!!!!!
This Fall we have been able to add a fun addition to our office. If you
have been to our office before, you know that each child gets one prize for
being them, “because God only made one you!” and another for helping with
their care. This concept rewards kids for being them, not based on doing
anything at all; it increases their self esteem inherent in being
themselves!
We have incorporated a fun new twist on this idea. We
have added a toy machine that vends toys of different types to the kids.
Chairside they are given one gold coin for being them, and one for helping
us. When they leave, they can spend their coins in the toy machine. It also
helps with learning about choice making as there are three choices. One is a
larger prize that costs two coins, and the other two each cost one coin. It
is enjoyable to watch them make up their minds as to how they will handle
their “financial riches”. It is good to see kids grow and learn and have fun
doing it!
